We are seeking a highly skilled AI Research Data Engineer to support a pioneering project in predictive maintenance and AI-assisted monitoring. This role involves building and optimizing AI-ready data infrastructure, enabling machine learning (ML) and knowledge graph-based models to power next-generation AI applications.

The Role

As an AI Research Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing scalable, high-performance data pipelines that support AI-driven research and development projects. Your work will enable real-time data processing, predictive analytics, and intelligent automation in a collaborative R&D environment.

You will be involved in a high-impact AI project, contributing to the development of a federated AI systems. Your expertise in data engineering, knowledge graphs, and ML model deployment will be essential in transforming research concepts into production-ready AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable AI-ready data pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
  • Optimize data infrastructure to support machine learning models in real-time environments.
  • Build knowledge graph-based data architectures for advanced AI applications.
  • Develop solutions for real-time data ingestion, transformation, and storage.
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Implement data validation, monitoring, and governance mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and professional AI researchers to design efficient ML pipelines.
  • Support AI-driven research projects in several industry sectors e.g. healthcare, space exploration, and financial technology.
  • Work with cloud-based big data platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) to develop scalable solutions.
  • Optimize AI/ML model deployment pipelines to enhance research-to-production transition.
  • Stay at the forefront of data engineering innovations in AI research and industrial applications.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering with exposure to AI-driven projects.
  • Strong programming skills in Python (Java or C# is a plus).
  • Experience with real-time streaming technologies (e.g., Apache Kafka, Spark Streaming, Flink).
  • Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Hands-on experience with knowledge graph databases (e.g., Neo4j, RDF, GraphQL).
  • Expertise in data modeling, schema design, and knowledge graph structures.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data engineering platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Strong knowledge of big data processing frameworks and orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow).
  • Familiarity with deploying ML models into production environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for complex AI/ML-driven challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional research teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for conveying AI and data engineering concepts.

Preferred:

  • Experience with predictive maintenance models and AI-driven anomaly detection.
  • Strong understanding of graph neural networks and semantic AI technologies.
  • Hands-on experience integrating AI models with edge computing environments.
  • Experience with deploying AI/ML models in cloud-based environments.
