The challenge

A continent-wide identity shift with specifications still being written

The EU's amended eIDAS regulation requires every member state to offer at least one approved digital identity wallet by December 2026. For Hungary, the challenge was not just compliance. The country already had functioning identity infrastructure in KAÜ. Any new wallet had to be fully backward-compatible with it, forward-compatible with the emerging EU-wide standard, and ready to interoperate with solutions being built in parallel across other member states - while the specification was still being written.

The solution

MyD Wallet built on thirty years of identity infrastructure

E-Group developed MyD Wallet as a modular, microservice-based digital identity framework. Built on the IDX platform, it integrates NFC e-ID card reading, biometric liveness detection, post-quantum digital signatures (SDX module), and an embedded workflow engine. The wallet implements OID4VCI and OID4VP - the EU standard protocols for credential issuance and presentation - and joined the European Digital Identity Wallet Consortium (EWC) large-scale pilot, a three-year EU programme testing cross-border interoperability. E-Group participated in the EWC General Assembly in Madrid in October 2024.

MyD Wallet passed all test scenarios of the EWC eIDAS 2 testbed - covering credential issuance, presentation flows, and cross-border authentication. It operates on both eIDAS 1.0 and 2.0 stacks simultaneously, maintaining backward compatibility with KAÜ, Ügyfélkapu+, and Hungary's DÁP citizen identification app. The architecture positions Hungary - and integration partners building on MyD - to meet the 2026 EU mandate with a solution already proven in production.
