The challenge

A national loan programme with no room for downtime

The Student Loan Centre (Diákhitel) provides long-term, subsidised loans to all Hungarian higher education students - a national entitlement. Yet the application, identity verification, and contract signing process depended on physical presence and paper documents. This created friction for students, operational cost for the institution, and a KYC/AML compliance burden. The goal was to move the entire process - from onboarding to contract execution - online, with legally binding outcomes and no reduction in identity assurance

The solution

Digital Identity Platform full digital onboarding and contracting at national scale

E-Group deployed its Digital Identity Platform to support the entire Diákhitel user journey. Students authenticate using citizen gateway accounts (KAÜ/Ügyfélkapu+), DÁP or eID cards. Data is verified in real time against central government registries, pre-populating the loan application form with accurate, authenticated data. The completed application is signed electronically by the student, followed by countersignature by the institution - producing a fully executed, legally binding contract without any physical interaction. KYC and AML compliance is automated throughout.

The result

The branch visit eliminated across an entire national programme

95% of all Hungarian student loans are now contracted through the platform. The process that once required in-person document presentation now completes entirely online, with identity verified at the same assurance level as a face-to-face check. Operational overhead for Diákhitel was significantly reduced, and the platform scales to serve the entire Hungarian higher education population without additional staffing.
